KKeC Leidschendam

facade as an inviting frame

ZOETMULDER is asked to design the shop interior for the second KKeC store, in Leidschendam. In the design of the new store, we used our previously developed shop concept ‘Less is a bore’. This concept is based on the owner’s passion for the store and its products.

The KKeC identity is the starting point for the interior; graphic accents, a playful color palette and a neutral base. The store breathes the same atmosphere as the KKeC store in Rotterdam, but we also develop new custom elements for the location in Leidschendam.

Unique to this assignment is that we also design our own facade in addition to the interior. The facade design is based on the recognizable ‘KKeC shape’, taking optimum account of the sightlines from the shopping center. The visitor’s gaze is drawn into the store and the facade forms an inviting frame for the products in the store. In order to develop the final facade, we did an extensive form study.
