signage city centre

playful identifiers

The design of information and signage boards consists of a ‘toolbox’ of shapes that can be used in multiple locations in the city centre. The shapes of the ‘human factor’ and the measurement system of ‘the plastic number’ were examined for the proportions of the signage.

The angular design language is derived from the rectangular polder structure of the Dutch polder and the round finish is inspired by the round shape of the nearby lake. As materialization, pigmented terrazzo concrete is used in different colors, colorful yet subtle. The combination of shape and color creates a playful and cheerful character, which gives identity to the postmodernist city center.
