Roundtable Discussion at Nieuwe Instituut

In December, the Nieuwe Instituut hosted a roundtable discussion on their significance and position within Dutch architecture. This initiative brought together a group of 20 designers and the institute together in dialogue. These 20 architects, urban planners, landscape architects, and interior architects collectively represent the spatial design discipline.

Elise Zoetmulder, as a member of this group, shared her vision for the institute. She advised focusing on the less tangible aspects of architecture, such as the influence of space on human behaviour or the social and cultural context of buildings. She also emphasised that the Nieuwe Instituut can be an essential link in the interaction between creativity and reality because it can provide applicable inspiration. As the only interior architect in this group, Elise added: ‘My goal is to connect the different disciplines within architecture and to give interior architecture a prominent place in the Nieuwe Instituut’s dialogues and exhibitions.’
