The construction of childcentre De Velduil in Houten has reached its highest point! A significant milestone for this project in collaboration with Openbaar Onderwijs Houten and the municipality of Houten. The building is already visible from several routes through the neighbourhood.
The new childcentre which is scheduled to open in May 2026, is gradually taking shape. The hybrid construction of steel, wood and concrete is now clearly visible, as are the recognisable curved shapes in the façade openings and roof edge Together with Tomaello in Vlaardingen, we designed a robust terrazzo concrete plinth incorporating brick fragments from the old school.
A special feature is the preservation of existing trees on the site. The sports hall and childcentre have been carefully positioned around a large existing tree, which will soon take a prominent place on the main entrance square.
Reaching the highest point marks an important milestone in the realisation of this childcentre, and we look forward to the next steps towards its opening in 2026.
